Senior Pastor Job Description

Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church is prayerfully seeking a full-time Senior Pastor. PRBC is a community oriented Southern Baptist Church, located in State Road, North Carolina; a rural area in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

PRBC has approximately 350 resident church members. We are a conservative body that supports the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message and believe the Bible is the infallible word of God. PRBC is a mission active church that strives to expand God’s kingdom not only in our community but across the world.

We are seeking a senior pastor who will eagerly and enthusiastically serve through:

  • Preaching the Word of God accurately, boldly, and clearly (not afraid to affirm that God’s word is the final authority on current divisive topics).

  • Glorifying God by proclaiming the Gospel, reaching out to the lost of all ages and backgrounds, growing disciples, and extending God’s loving grace towards all people.

  • Guiding us in fulfilling our church mission statement, lead us by example, and minister to the spiritual needs of all members.

  • Developing a culture of prayer, evangelism, and discipleship within our church body.

  • Leading all deacons and teachers in a coordinated ministry of visitation and contact with elderly, shut-ins, sick, hospitalized, and unchurched members of our community.

  • Mentoring our associate/youth pastor in a God honoring way that equips him for the tasks of ministry and empowers him for success as a young preacher.

  • Partnering with other church workers in recruiting, training, and evaluating all leadership and servant positions within the church.

  • Serving as an ex-officio member of all committees operating within the church body.

PRBC would prefer an ordained pastor with at least five years of experience, and some education, although no specific level or degree is required. We are excited to watch God work and reveal the man who He has selected to shepherd and lead us.
